shampain
To find a touring DJ with no tracks to their name and a career relying solely on their ability manning the booth is a rare task these days. Shampain is one of those DJs. Through his extremely colourful music collection and razor sharp mixing ability, not to mention his distinctive persona, the Irishman has dug a deep chasm for himself in what often-times feels like a crowded dance music community to much success.
A proud native of Galway in the west of Ireland, he has founded both VSN and G TOWN Records and is currently heading up the DIY operations at FREAK Magazine; an exciting art & music start up that is showcasing the weird and wonderful of the audio and visual worlds.
All while doing that he has held down a now-long and respected tenure as a resident on Rinse France, hosted a documentary series on Irish-language TV channel TG4, re-scored classic silent movies and of course toured the globe playing clubs and festivals. This dynamic approach has led to more established recognition from Irish cultural institutions such as An Taibhdhearc (The National Irish Language Theatre), The Bram Stoker Festival and the storied Galway Arts Festival, not to mention legendary dance music institutions far and wide like Fabric, Amnesia, Rex Club, Hör, Sub Club, Macadam and RSO among others in the past 12 months.
Heading into the new year, he aims to spread Celtic sound worldwide via the medium of electronic music and give a new meaning to the moniker ‘Lord of the Dance’.
