Meg10 is one of the most compelling DJs to come out of Berlin. Her political outspokenness and love for Y2K Hip Hop & RnB are key components to her sonic ID. With her genre-bending sound that combines elements of Rap & Electronic Music, as well as her feminist endeavors to foster a more female and queer inclusive club scene, Meg10 has been shaking up Germany for the last 7 years.
As the founder of Germany’s most talked about femme focused club night Hoe_mies, Meg10 has birthed a whole new generation of female and gender minority DJs and pioneered awareness in the Berlin club space and beyond. Pulling together a broad spectrum of genres from Rap, RnB and Dancehall to House, Electro and Techno, Hoe_mies is still overhitting capacity since its inception in 2017 and empowers its community to take up space in male domains.
This year Meg10 launched the Hoe__mies label with the release of its first V/A “Hoe__mies 4 Palestine”. Curated by herself, featuring an international lineup of club music producers, the compilation is a fundraiser for Doctors Without Borders with 100% of profits going towards relief efforts in Gaza. The most purchased track on the project is Meg10’s first edit “Bitter Sw33t B33z” featuring producer Sam Salam, a DnB mashup of The Verve’s “Bitter Sweet Symphony” and Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap”, which is currently the closing track of Australian DJ C.FRIM’s festival DJ sets and has been played by other popular names like DJ Fuckoff, Jyoty, Schackedelic, Arthi and many more. Keep Hush titled it “the best mash up ever”.
Meg10’s polyrhythmic sets boasting bass and explicit lyrics to lip sync to as well as her passion for fashion and know-how for curating blockbuster line-ups not only garnered her ties to high fashion brands like Bottega Veneta and Mugler. But also invitations to curate stages at acclaimed festivals such as Fusion, Splash!, Melt and more. Her signature sound mashing electronic music with pop & hip hop cultural references resonates beyond the clubsphere. Last year she was part of the music director team for Germany’s most successful female rap artist Shirin David’s arena tour. Currently she’s the MD for Germany’s breakout Hyperpop Rave princess Domiziana zhuzhing up her festival set for the 2024 season.
